FAQs
TLDR
-
Do you offer a free sample session and what would we talk about?Yes! This is an opportunity for me to learn about what has you curious about coaching and the things you would like to accomplish. It also allows you a chance to get to know me a bit better. Think of it like a "meet and greet" and "chemistry session."
-
What will we talk about in coaching?Your values, current challenges, pain points, dreams, curiosities, life’s purpose, your journey. We’ll talk about all of it, the good, the bad, the messy, and the beautiful.
-
What’s the medium? We can meet virtually (ie zoom) or do a phone call. We can also meet in-person. Please note the details of this will be discussed with each client.
-
How often do we meet?Sessions occur about twice/month. We text and email in between our sessions.
-
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?Therapy is exploring the things that have happened in your past that have brought you to the present. Coaching is moving from the present into the future you desire. Therapy is about healing and exploring who you are now and who you have been. Coaching is exploring who you are now and who you want to become. Therapy is following a "treatment plan." Coaching is creating and executing your own "action plan."
-
What can you do for me?I will guide you to draw a new fish. This means co-creating a map that will allow you to make positive changes professionally, relationally, and intrapersonally. I will support you to articulate your values, learn new skills, and set and achieve goals.
-
How are you different from other coaches?I layer my coaching skills and expertise on top of my counseling psychology foundation. I utilize my training and experience as a psychotherapist, with over a decade of experience in a variety of therapeutic modalities such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, family systems, and psychodynamic therapy. This, in combination with my life’s experiences, allows me to support you in a structured, creative, and resourceful way to improve your life in the areas where you are stuck.
-
What’s the time commitment? In my experience, meaningful and lasting change takes a minimum of 4-12 months. Therefore, I ask all clients to sign up for at least 4 months. In those 4 months, we will have 8 sessions, meeting every other week. During the off weeks, we will have regular text and email communications in order to maintain momentum. After 4 months, we will mutually assess and determine beneficial next steps.
